Clue
Mrs. White
This costume was constructed using the American 1985 film Clue (which was set in 1954 and adapted from the board game Cluedo) as inspiration in combination with late 1950s art, specifically Roy Lichtenstein’s Pop Art work. This character is Mrs. White who, in the film, is a black widow and, at the dinner party she attends during the film, is recently widowed, again. This design took the double sided character into account including a removable cape and reversible skirt. The colour palette was black for the grieving widow and white for the bride with “something blue” as inspiration for the colour in the Lichtenstein inspired dots. The whole costume was constructed from felt which gave a strong structure and silhouette.
